WHY IS ISUBILO NEEDED?

HIV/AIDS in Zambia had a severe impact on the social structure of the community in a country with already very low employment. The limited social and health services available in Zambia are submerged, cemeteries are overcrowded and funerals are a daily part of life.

Thousands of orphans are left to a diminishing number of carers with an increasing number of child headed families. Already struggling families who are under great pressure are having to take in relatives' orphans, some grandmothers having to care for all their grandchildren with no means to sustain them.

Consequently child abuse and neglect is increasingly common in Zambia and despair and destitution is a hallmark of many communities.
